Our little Quinton arrived on January 15 at 4:41 pm. I was induced that morning. They started pitocin about 8:00 and I was still dilated to a 2 and 50% effaced. My doctor came about noon and broke my water. I was then 4 cm dilated and 80% effaced. The contractions started to increase after my water was broken, so I decided it was time to get the epidural. At this time the nurse noticed that the amniotic fluid was slightly meconium stained. My epidural was finished at 1:00 and by this time I was dilated to a 9 and almost completely effaced! I was so excited, thinking we would have a baby in an hour or so. Unfortunately I was very wrong. Little Quinton was posterior (facing up) and pretty much stuck in the birth canal. I pushed for over 3 hours. When the Dr. arrived she said that it may be time to " throw in the towel" meaning a c-section. Not at all what we wanted. I could tell at this time Corey got really worried. After a little rest, and several silent prayers in my behalf I was able to push him out. The Dr. quickly suctioned out his lungs due to the meconium, and thankfully it was all clear fluid. Unfortunately, he kept forgetting to breathe, so they took him right to the nursery with Corey quickly in tow. After a short time, Corey came back announcing that Quinton was doing better and they just needed to monitor him for a while. After about and hour they wheeled him in and I got to hold my beautiful little boy.
I am so grateful that he is here and everything turned out. I know I wouldn't have been able to do it without the support of my family and my Heavenly Father.
